1. Canva

Canva allows you to create visuals for web and print, such as Facebook covers, emails, flyers, posters, invitations and more. With each of the formats, there are beautifully designed templates to inspire your creation.

There are many pre-designed elements, like icons, frames, photos and other graphics that you can drag and drop into your design.

Canva also has a design school where you can learn the basics from interactive tutorials!

Recently, Canva has mixed the free elements with the premium elements. It takes longer to find what you need if you don’t want to pay.

2. PicMonkey

PicMonkey is a mix of photo editor and graphic design application. You can use PicMonkey to do 90% of your creative design tasks!

There are 3 main functions: photo editing, graphic design and making collages. From basic edits such as crop, rotate, sharpen, and resize to adding effects and textures, PicMonkey makes it easy for you to edit photos (even if you have no experience!).

You can start off with a blank canvas instead of starting with a photo. There are pre-set sizes, like Facebook cover photo. Lastly, you can make collages, and PicMonkey has tons of pre-made templates! If you don’t want to use photos in some spots, you can use swatches of color instead. The best part is that you don’t need to have the photos in the exact size. You can make basic edits and zoom the images right in the editor.

3. Piktochart

Piktochart has over 400 themes (most of them require the Pro account) and over 4000 SVG graphics to help you make your infographic! Free account users can upload up to 20 graphics or images to use. With easy drag and drop function, Piktochart makes it a breeze to create a great looking infographic.

There are also tons of charts, graphs and maps that you can make. Import from xls, xlsx, csv and even Google spreadsheets. You can even add in videos from Youtube or Vimeo.

The free version will attach the Piktochart watermark at the end of your infographic.

4. Inkscape

Inkscape is a free alternative to Adobe Illustrator for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It is open source and has a huge community for support. You can do everything you need in Inkscape. While Illustrator has more features for manipulating text, Inkscape allows you to create precise point-based drawings quicker.

Inkscape has a lengthy list of drawing tools – quick ways to create rectangles and squares, circles and arcs, spirals, polygons, 3D boxes, Bezier curves, straight lines and more. But there are also interesting sculpting and painting options, many path creation and editing options, and some very powerful text tools.

5. SVG-Edit

SVG-Edit is an online vector graphics editor that works in your browser. It only uses JavaScript, HTML5, CSS and SVG.

You can’t create SVG animations or use scripts, though it delivers most of the features expected from a SVG editor, such as drawing tools, layers, color, gradient, resizable canvas, align, and more. You can switch easily between the visual editor and source code view, allowing you to generate HTML5 SVG source code quickly.
