The Delhi Book Fair is going on in full swing and the huge football stands testimony to the hope that all is not yet lost to the digital world. While hundreds and thousands of readers (and non-readers) make their way to the book fair, we too are delighted to have our fill of the event.
You can never really have your fill of this event as the Delhi Book Fair is awe-inspiring in its magnitude. Smelling of books, both old and new, the Delhi Book Fair reminds the audience that there is so much more to learn, so much more to see and so much more to read. And, with discounts going up to as much as 70% this season, the whole fun of being surrounded by books goes up manifolds.
From sci-fi to romantic to fictions- the book fair is the home of all genres and you can as easily find someone reciting Prufrock by T.S Eliot there as happen upon a group of students discussing the latest outing of Durjoy Dutta. To learn more about what the book fair means for those who want to drink the joy of books to the brink, we got in touch with Sami Ahmad Khan, the author of Red Jihad and Aliens in Delhi.
Red Jihad, the first book from Sami Ahmad Khan’s armoury gave the audience the thrill of drenching in the red of political terrorism and religious fundamentalism and enjoy a nexus so complex that it left them breathless and wanting more. Riding high with another one of his outings, namely Aliens in Delhi, Sami Ahmad Khan is now ready to talk about his love for Science Fiction, and converse with a group of like-minded individuals who are ever ready to dive deep in the world of black ink and come out drenched in new ideas and knowledge.
Sami Ahmad Khan, who thinks the whole book fair is a great idea is really excited about the “genre interaction” and thinks that it is a great platform for “those who write, those who read and those who publish to come under one roof.”
Sami A. Khan is not the only one who wishes to form a connection with the audience through the fair, Ruskin Bond – the man from the hills, is also making his way to the Delhi Book Fair this Sunday and we can already feel the atmosphere peaking in excitement. So, as the Delhi Book Fair moves towards its conclusion, we invite you to join us as we indulge in some books and enjoy the traditional walking hand-in-hand with the modern.
