When you Google “study abroad”, you’d find plenty ads and websites that already promise you a successful career and a happy life somewhere away from your native land. At that moment you might not even know which career path or course you should explore and in which nation, but the internet is ready with pretty pictures and claims to ship you off. So much that they make it seem all so easy. But trust me it is not.

Therefore, if you do actually want to study abroad, this is how you do it.

1. Acknowledge Your Wish and Will

Make plans to study abroad only after you have paid enough consideration into the matter. Uprooting your life for something you are temporarily drawn to is not going to work out well. That being said, kindly make-up your mind about the career path you want to opt, subjects you are interested to study, Universities you’d like to apply to. Do not pursue this if you are all about an international degree.

2. Research

Once you have made your mind to go through with this, your subsequent goal should be to do some research. Search for Institutes and Universities that provide good courses, funding options and accommodations. If you really make it abroad, preparing to sustain yourself (alone) should be your goal. Most foreign universities provide options to study many subjects/ fields together. Research and pick after careful consideration.

3. Study Abroad: The Preparation

The preparation depends on which course you are enrolling, which university and nation you are opting for. Every country has different guidelines for international students. Make sure you are well versed with the correct procedure in due time. You may want to start off with preparing for GRE/GMAT, TOEFL/IELTS and other qualification exams. Students should start applying one season prior to their course. Generally, international courses are offered for Fall and Spring Seasons. Be ready with your resume, portfolio, SOP (Statement Of Purpose), LORs (Letter of Recommendation), Transcripts and other documents before time.

4. How Do You Actually Apply

Applying to various colleges is the most important yet a simple step. All you need to do is keep a track of the updates on the official websites of colleges. Universities offer the necessary guidelines, deadlines and requirements for every semester. Applying to colleges requires a fee, make sure you apply to colleges you are sure of. Prepare all the mandatory documents a few days prior to the deadlines to avoid any last minute error.

What exactly are you incapable of? If you are limitless, what is it that you can not do? It all comes down to your experiences. Therefore, decide wisely and experience global education because it will be worth it– only if you put efforts.
