Beyond Photoshop | 5 Free Photo Editing Softwares!

Beyond Photoshop | 5 Free Photo Editing Softwares!

Adobe Photoshop and Creative Cloud subscription is expensive, plus the learning curve is steep. Whether you are looking for a free alternative to edit your photos or to create fun images with a click of the mouse, check out the 5 free photo editing software we found.

1. Fotor

Fotor allows you to adjust exposure, brightness, contrast, white balance, and saturation, sharpen/blur, add a vignette, or crop, straighten, rotate and more. You can choose from over 60 effects and over 30 styles of frames to enhance your photographs. Each effect can be applied to varying degrees according to a sliding scale. While you adjust, compare the photo to the original at any time.

With integration to social media, share your edited images quickly with one click.

You can use in almost any device, in your browser, or download to your Windows, Mac, Android or iOS device.

If you can’t afford Adobe Photoshop, and you need a huge array of functionalities, then GIMP is your best answer. You can use GIMP as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, and much more.

GIMP also comes with over 100 plug-ins, allowing you to add new file formats, effect filters and other functions.

Like Photoshop, it has a big learning curve, but there are also many tutorials and forums dedicated to GIMP.

3. Pixlr

Pixlr is meant for non-professionals who want to edit web images to be posted on social media, blogs or other photo sharing sites. There are 3 apps from Pixlr to choose from.

Pixlr Editor – photo editing in the browser. It supports layers, image editing, brushes, and the typical photo editing functions. There is no plug-in support.

Pixlor Express – for making quick fixes or applying filters and effects.

Pixlr-o-matic – Like Instagram, you can turn your photos into vintage images by adding retro effects, overlays and borders.

4. Paint.NET

paintnet is a free photo editing software, available only for Windows. It has an intuitive user interface with all the tools you need. Along with using filters, applying effects, a magic wand, and brushes for drawing shapes, it also support layers (which many free editing software does not have). While it doesn’t have all the features of Photoshop or GIMP, it has a wide range of functions that should satisfy most users.

5. Funny Photo Maker

Funny Photo Maker comes with many fun effects and frames. You can put your face onto a billboard, a bank note, and other funny backgrounds. Or, see what you would look like as famous characters, such as Yoda, Bella from Twilight, Ironman, and more. Finally, you can add animated effects in GIF. If you are looking for advanced tools, this is not the tool for you.
