Meet the Creator of today’s Google Doodle | Vaidehi Reddy, 15 year old student from Pune wins Doodle4Google.

You must have noticed the Google India Doodle today morning. Pretty hard to miss, really, but do you know the person behind creating what everybody across the country has on their Google homepage, on the occasion of Children’s day today?

Allow us to introduce you to Vaidehi Reddy from Army Public School, Pune, who won this year’s ‘Doodle4Google’ that is organized every year, with this year’s theme being, ‘A place in India I wish to visit’. Amongst the millions of entries that poured in from across 2100 schools in over 50 cities, Vaidehi’s entry depicting Assam, showing the various cultural motifs of the state, won a special place on the Google homepage on Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday. 

The Jury for picking the winning entry included Political cartoonist Ajit Ninan, Savio Mascarenhas – Art Director Children’s Publishing at ACK Media,  and the Google Doodle team lead by Ryan Germick. who were overwhelmed to have had such a marvelous response from young children. 

Kristopher Hom, a Google engineer who is part of the core Google team said,”Being a part of the Doodle team, I am always inspired by such creativity. It is wonderful to see how each and every one of these entries is unique not only for their incredible creativity but also for the simple yet powerful message behind them.”

Apart from Vaidehi, there were three categories of winners:

  • Grades 1-3: Sarvagjna Miriyala, DAV Public School, Panvel, Mumbai won the prize for her doodle titled ‘Gods own country Kerala’
  • Grades 4-6: V Sai Latha Rani, Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Vizag won the prize for her doodle titled ‘Ooty’s beauty’
  • Grades 7-10: Y Sai Greeshma, Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Vizag won the prize for her doodle titled ‘Heritage Glorified – Hampi’

The winners of the contest were announced in a public event at Delhi.
