I worked as a Campus Ambassador for Wooplr, a Bangalore based start-up that helps people to shop better by informing them about what their friends are buying, the top trends in their cities, the best destinations for shopping, food and home decor, sharing their shopping experience to become a successful social influence in their neighborhood. Wooplr can be used on their website, and through their Android and iOS app as well, which allow you shop while you’re on the go, making it India’s first local discovery and commercial platform.
I discovered the opportunity through Letsintern and was selected at a virtual intern for Wooplr, which meant, I could work from the comfort of my home and college campus. My primary job role including creating awareness about Wooplr, by convincing people about the benefits of signing up on the website, and post their pictures that best described their fashion sense. We also held a ‘Daily Fashionista’ contest, where we declared the most fashionable person on Wooplr at the end of the day.
At first, I thought marketing would not be really my cup of tea, and will end up making my schedule a bit hectic, but slowly I starting performing well for the tasks assigned to me., which got me exciting rewards like free recharge vouchers, movie tickets, Dominoe’s Pizza, along with my regular stipend money. While introducing Wooplr to the people around me, including my family members, my communication and presentation skills improved and I, myself started tuning into what’s new on the fashion street while buying anything for myself.
Mr. Gaurav Bisen, Marketing Head at Wooplr, always encouraged me to do more, whenever I hit rock bottom. I learnt a lot of about marketing from his valuable experience as he constantly introduced us to the things to keep in mind while creating buzz about a product. Pleased with my performance, I was told to continue the internship with Wooplr for another month which will involve new and challenging tasks thrown my way. I gladly took up the offer to extend my internship period, to learn more about start-up culture and ropes of surviving in the industry.
I have always wanted to have marketing experience on my resume and thanks to Letsintern, I found one that I could fit right into my college schedule without an issue. I plan to search for more internships in different categories through them in the future.
