Job Description: Intern – Art Accounts, Mumbai  

‘Art for Akanksha’ is the strongest co-curricular program that is offered to all students within the Akanksha network of schools across Mumbai and Pune. It aims to empowers low-income children with a powerful art education, provides Akanksha alumni with art-related career opportunities and generates revenue through high-quality products.

The art created by the Akanksha children has found to be an incredible tool for spreading awareness about Akanksha’s work in the education sector and to simply show people what is possible if children have access to opportunities.


The Art Accounts Intern is a key role to ensure that all sales and commercial activities that the art team engages in are well recorded and compliant with all process required for the Akanksha financial audit. It serves as a great learning experience for a young student who is interested in taking on a career in accounting. This position reports to the Director, Art for Akanksha and will be closely overseen by Accounts Associate in Akanksha’s Finance team. 


Job Description & Responsibilities include:

• Vendor Management on Netsuite: Creating purchase orders, processing advance payments and issuing final payment against bills post receipt of products. 

• Art Sales on Netsuite: Creating performa invoices for orders, invoices and tracking all sales (cash, cheques and online payment) on a tracker. Reconciliation of sales from corporates, retails, stalls as well as third party organisations. 

• Updating and managing the contact database on Excel

• Art Accounts: 

• Team salaries, reimbursements, advances, alumni stipends along with the Finance team. 

• Manage bank and cash payments and receipts 

• Manage day to day recording of accounting transactions in the accounting system 

• Ensure complete information is entered into the accounting system

• Maintain petty cash book on a daily basis

• Ensure bank deposits are done on a regular basis

• Submit monthly MIS reports on donations and expenses

• Support in compiling documentation/data for donor and statutory audits

• Maintain TDS register

• Manage statutory payments as per statutory deadline 

• Ensure bank reconciliations for all the banks are carried out on a monthly basis

• Support in the finalization of accounts

• Donations management:

• Issue donation receipts as required and update donation database on a monthly basis

• Ensure supporting documents related to donations are maintained in compliance with statutory requirements


Required Qualifications:

• Fluency in English

• Bachelor’s degree or pursuing one 

• Clarity and understanding of accounts related concepts 

• Familiarity and comfort with the use of a computer
