The CapAleph Food and Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development Center is a unique effort to create an ecosystem of financial and operating support to entrepreneurs in the food and agriculture sectors. Unlike other sectors like technology and manufacturing sectors where financial support to start-ups have been relatively more easily accessible, the agriculture sector has been isolated from the mainstream of start-up financing and mentoring. We believe that the systematic application of Indian entrepreneurial energy and talent to resolve many of the constraints that face the food and agri value chain in India will create not only practical and commercially sustainable solutions but will also provide a high levels of employment for mainly rural based entrepreneurial ideas.

2. Selection of Entrepreneurs - Incubatees will have to be selected based on their business model, progress shown and the team

About Company

CapAleph Indian Millennium Small and Medium Enterprise Fund (“CapAleph”) is a unique private equity fund that targets investment of private capital into the food and agriculture value chain in India. It is focused on introducing small sums of domestic private capital to areas which are constrained and affect food security and the improvement in livelihood of farmers and other participants in the extended food value chain. The belief is that demonstrating commercial viability of private capital in building capacity in this neglected sector can serve to invite more capital to flow into this sector. CapAleph is founded by George Thomas who has over 30 years of overall experience mainly in managing foods businesses in India (for Unilever and other companies) and over a decade of experience in executing some salient “buy and build” private equity investments in India while at India Value Fund, a USD 1.7Bn private equity fund.
