Please note that the order is arbitrary and does not reflect on the merit of the university.


1. College of Engineering, Pune

Established in 1854 by the British, College of Engineering, Pune is the third oldest engineering college in Asia. The Bhau Institute of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Leadership is an incubation centre helping students launch their own start-ups. The college has many clubs of both technical and non-technical interests that give students well-rounded experiences.

2. Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai

One of the oldest engineering colleges in Asia, established in 1887. T he Institute is reputed for excellent training in programs in engineering and technology at the certificate,[4]diploma, degree, post-graduate and doctoral levels, as well as numerous well-regarded research works.

M.C.A. admissions are based on the scores in the MCA-CET.

3. Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai

Chemical Engineering department is ranked #1 out of the country. ICT graduates are highly sought after by the Indian and global chemical industry. The institute has a very strong research culture with many sponsored projects. ICT also produces 100 PhDs annually (10 percent of India’s engineering PhDs).


This institute specialises in dye, textiles, pharmaceutical, oils, surface engineering.

B.Tech: Chemical, Fibres and Textile Processing, Food, Oils, Oleochemicals & Surfactants Technology, Pharmaceutical, Surface Coating, Polymer, Dyestuff.

M.Tech: in addition to the above, it also offers specialisations in Plastic Engineering, Green Technology, Perfumery & Flavour, and Bioprocess

Admissions: All carried out by the Competent Authority of Government of Maharashtra.

ICT graduates are highly-sought after by the Indian and global chemical industry. Students got emoluments ranging from Rs. 3.50 to Rs 14.00 lakhs per annum. Top recruiting companies include General Mills, British Paints, Nestle, Reliance Industries and more. Number: 106

4. Institute of Technology, Nirma University of Science & Technology, Ahmedabad

Nirma University is the oldest private university in the state of Gujarat. The institute is ranked within top 25 self-financed engineering colleges of India in the survey conducted by various rating agencies. Faculties at Nirma University are well-qualified and experienced. Almost all have at least 8 years of experience.

B. Tech.: Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics & Communications, IT, Instrumental & Control and Mechanical Engineering.
M. Tech. in 19 specialties, including Environment Design, Energy Systems, Networking Technologies, VLSI Design, Thermal Engineering, and more.

B. Tech: Must have passed 10+2 with PCM and appeared in JEE Mains. Admission is done on the basis of performance in JEE Mains.
M. Tech: For all programmes, non-sponsored applicants with qualifying GATE will be given admission based on GATE merit. If any vacancy remains, then non GATE applicants based on the merit of the All India Basis written test to be conducted by Nirma University

Over 90% of the eligible students get placed in relevant sectors. Companies like GNFC, Essar, Reliance, Accenture, TCS etc. are the usual recruiters. Average salary ranges in 5 to 6 lakh per year.


5. Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Pune

Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Pune, is an engineering college affiliated to the University of Pune, India. Established in 1983 by Vishwanath D. Karad, it is among the first engineering colleges in the private sector in Maharashtra. MIT Pune’s 17-acre campus is situated in the city of Pune also known as Oxford of the east. Apart from the numerous educational institutions, the campus also houses World Peace Centre.

B.E. in Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Telecommunications, Computer, IT< Petroleum, Petrochemical, Polymer Engineering.
M.E. in Petroleum, Civil Structures, Construction and Management, Computer, Design, Heat Power, IT, Polymer, Electronics Digital Systems, and Piping Design.

B.E.: Admission to all degree courses (UG) is based on HSC/std. 12 or equivalent examination, with list of subjects and minimum % marks as specified by DTE and JEE(Main) examination.
M. E.: Admission as per Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) rules.

Infosys and TCS grab students in numbers, but MIT also has Microsoft and Deloitte picking up a few students. Global leader Shell recruits Petroleum students in bulk too. MIT offers nearly 100% placements. MIT Pune organise several entrepreneurship training programmes in collaboration with National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN). Number: 53

6.  KJ Somaiya College of Engineering, Mumbai

Established in 1983 a grade (government of Maharashtra) first engineering college in Maharashtra to get accreditation by the national board of accreditation. There is a Proctorial system, whereby each faculty member acts as a surrogate parent of a student. To streamline the working of such a method, each student is assigned a specific faculty member as soon as they join the engineering college. The student can approach that faculty member for any issue, college-related or otherwise.

B.E.: Computer, Electronics and Telecommunications, Electronics, IT, and Mechanical.
M.E.: Computer, Electronics and Telecommunications, Electronics, IT, Mechanical (Computer Aided Design / Energy Engineering)

B.E.: Admission to all degree courses (UG) is based on HSC/std. 12 or equivalent examination, with a list of subjects and minimum % marks as specified by DTE and JEE(Main) examination.
M. E.: Admission as per Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) rules.

Students take admission here because of the placements. Placements at KJ Somaiya College of Engineering (KJSCE) are good and have a track record of placing at least 70% students.


7. Samrat Ashok Technological Institute, Vidisha

Samrat Ashok Technological Institute (SATI) is a premier institute located in Vidisha, in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

B.E. in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, IT, Bio-Medical, and Petro Chemical Engineering.
M.E. in Power Electronics, Environmental Engineering, Advance Production Systems, Electrical Machines & Drives.
M. Tech in Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Computer Science and Engineering, Software Systems, IT, Electronics and Communications, Construction Technology and Management, and Transportation Engineering.

Also, offers MCA and MBA programs.

B.E.: based on the merit list of a PreEngineering Test (PET) conducted by the Vyavasayik Pariksha Mandal (Professional Examinations Board) constituted by M.P. State Government.
M.E., M. Tech, MCA: Only GATE qualified candidates shall be admitted to full-time P.G. courses for non-sponsored category (General&SC/ST). When GATE qualified candidates are not available, admission shall be given on merit to those who are not qualified in GATE.
MCA: basis of an entrance test for MCA conducted by the Vyavasayik Pariksha Mandal of the State.

Students are placed in companies like Infosys, IBM, Cognizant, and TCS.


8. Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science, Indore

SGSITS is a public engineering college – 2nd best college after MANIT Bhopal. A part of the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya and its degrees are issued by the University. Apart from spacious classrooms and well-equipped laboratories, the campus of the institute encompasses four boys hostels, two girls hostel, one transit hostel and 44 faculty quarters. Institute has a central library which has a vast collection of books, reference library and a large number of subscribed online and print journals.

B.E.: Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Information Technology, Industrial and Production Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering.

9. Institute of Engineering and Technology, Indore

The Institute of Engineering & Technology, commonly referred to as IET, is an engineering college of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya. IET offers undergraduate and graduate engineering programs in more than five disciplines along with hosting research labs and student outreach programs. Electronics and instrumentation engineers of the college have secured top positions in all India GATE examinations for several consecutive years. In 2008 the institute produced five students in top 25 AIR in the GATE exam.

B.Tech: Computer Science, IT, Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation, Chemical Engineering.
M. Tech: Software Engineering, Information Security, Digital Instrumentation, Digital Communication,  Industrial Engineering & Management, Design & Thermal Engineering.

B. Tech: On the basis of the rank obtained by the candidate in SEE-UPTU (Uttar Pradesh State Engineering Admission Test). This exam is conducted by Gautam Buddh Technical University

M. Tech: A candidate seeking admission to the program should have passed with 60% (or equivalent) in BE/BTech (or equivalent) in an allied branch of engineering from a recognised/ University. Regular candidates should have a valid GATE Score in the relevant/ allied branch of Engg/ Tech. The sponsored candidates should have two years of work experience after BE/BTech degree.

Almost all eligible students get placements from the institute. Major recruiters include Infosys, TCS, CSC, Atos Origin, info beans, Deloitte, Tata Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Persistent, Cap Gemini, Adobe, cognizant, Syntel, HSBC.
