Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship

What is it all about?

Have you always wanted to study, but faltered thinking who would fund your dreams of higher education? Then, this scholarship is for you. The Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship offers financial aid to candidates, for a global education. Those students who receive the award can opt for post-graduate and PhD courses abroad.

What do you need to do?

Obtain the application forms from the AKF office and submit them, duly filled and with necessary documentation and proofs from March 16, 2017 (5:00 PM) to March 20, 2017 (5:00 PM). The scholarship is applicable for all graduates and post-graduates, below 30 years of age, who have no other means to finance their education.

Note: The Aga Khan Foundation is not accepting applications from students who are opting for a global education opportunity in UK, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, The Netherlands, Italy, Norway and Ireland.

ii) Finance your education without heavy student loans
iii) Gain access to post-graduate courses, with paid tuition fee and living expenses abroad.

DAAD Scholarships for Developing Countries:

What is it all about?

A chance for a global education at a German University, the DAAD scholarship is funded by the German government for those keen on development research.

What you need to do?

A strong academic record is important for a student younger than 36 years of age.  Two years of work experience and german language requirements need to be dotted too. Fill up the form and submit till July 31 every year – either online or at the German embassy. You may be shortlisted between November and February the next year.

  2. Annual research grants + 750 euros monthly
  3. Health, accident and liability insurance
  4. Travel allowance

What is it all about?

Keen on rising high in the journalism field? Apart from raw talent and the right grass root network, a journalist is always known for their last original work. And this prize is the right opportunity to gain recognition for it. Think of it as the financial impetus for good journalistic work.

What do you need to do?

Apply online before March 10, 2017 for an original, published or broadcast, work between March 11, 2016 and March 10, 2017. The eligibility criteria will limit submissions to only those who hold a valid press card. Bylined, original work is the other criteria.

Advantage for newbie journalists/interns:

i) Opportunity to gain recognition for original, journalistic work
ii) Cash prize of 5000 Euros to 12 finalists, 10,000 euros for winner

ACJ Awards for Investigative Journalism 2017

What is it all about?

Keen on achieving an edge and a name for yourself at the beginning of your career, especially in journalism. Then the ACJ Award is just what you need. The purpose of the award is to encourage the best works of investigative journalism in print, digital and TV media, for an Indian audience.

What do you need to do?

Apply before Feburary 28, either online or by post to the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai. The application is open to journalists, editors, newsroom or media representatives for published works in either of the three domains.

Advantages for Journalism interns:

  1. Professional appreciation for investigative journalism
  2. Cash prize of Rs 2,00,000/- each and a citation.
