Microsoft’s Imagine Cup 2015 season is here – Have an idea? Dream it, Build it, Live it!


Microsoft’s Imagine Cup is a global student tech competition that provides opportunities for students across all disciplines to team up and use their creativity, passion and knowledge of technology to create applications, games and integrated solutions that can change the way we live, work, and play.

Since its inception in 2003, Imagine Cup has inspired the best minds to come together and have fun with technology. This year’s Imagine Cup will continue featuring the three main competitions – Innovation, Games and World Citizenship. The cash prize awards for the competition is as follows – first place receives $50,000; second place receives $10,000; and third place receives $5,000. 

There are national level contests as well- with awesome prizes in store!

How to participate?

  1. Register at for your  individual login account
  2. Form a team (4 max) or participate individually and register your team in the site
  3. Choose a stream: Games / Innovation / World Citizenship

Games: If it’s a game, it belongs on the Games Path. If you’re hoping to entertain your users, give them a fun interactive experience, or even challenge their assumptions about what a game could be, the Games Path is your home.

Innovation: The Innovation Path is the place for the next big thing. Are you looking to change the way people use technology? Are you planning something that will disrupt the current paradigm? Do you see your app in everyone’s hands, all over the world? If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.

World Citizenship: Do you want to make the world a better place? The World Citizenship Path is for projects that want to address an important social problem such as disease, natural disasters, civil rights, poverty, access to vital information, gender equality, and so on. It’s about solving real problems for real people.

Code Hunt Challenge:
Apart from the main competition, there is a monthly online puzzle game called the Code Hunt Challenge, a 48 hour coding hackathon. It’s fast, fun, and really cool. Anyone with basic programming skills in C# or Java can try Code Hunt right now on their website to learn what it’s like. In this coding hackathon, you’ll be shown a snippet of code, and you’ll have to rewrite it to produce the desired output in as few lines of code as possible

Register at the Imagine Cup site and on the third weekend of each month, you’ll have access to a special Code Hunt puzzle just for Imagine Cup students. The next challenge starts on Dec 20th 5:30 AM (IST) and ends by Dec 22nd 5:30 AM (IST)

The top scoring student each month will win $1,000 and every student who competes will be eligible for the $5,000 grand-prize sweepstakes at the end of the season in April!
