Since 2007, Eko has played an instrumental role in evolution of agent banking system, using existing mom-n-pop shops, and developing mobile phones to enable existing mom-n-pop shops to become low-cost agents. Eko’s platform has enabled many services including branchless correspondent banking for large banks like State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank and Axis Bank.

After being awarded the license to operate a semi-closed pre-paid instrument by Reserve Bank of India in the first quarter of 2015, Eko proposes to build scalable platform for customers to cash-in/cash-out, save, send and spend electronically.

Eko today has a network of over 20,000 retail outlets and processes over Rs. 700 crore per month

The next era of the banking revolution would require developing two parameters:

• Democratizing cash-in & cash-out network

• Building relevant technology tools for the customer to transact electronically

Eko is on an endeavor to build this network and platform that empowers the next billion to get connected financially.
