Internship Details

About Internship:

We are looking for interns (week-end options also available) who will drive large scale market linkage program. Objective is to connect women farmers and artisans directly to consumers, ensuring socio-economic inclusion of poorest of poor communities. You will also provide support and mentorship to farmers and artisans in your city, town, or village.

What will you do?

In first phase, focus will be on development contexts and poverty reduction; and you would be trained in specific techniques that enable you to support women farmers and artisans link directly to customers.

In second phase, you will learn about designing solutions, testing ideas, and building brands. You will be able to build and demonstrate your marketing skills (digital and offline), managing partnerships and customer acquisition.

What will you learn?

In the process, practice the MIT U-Lab impact process, take Design Thinking practices to field and learn about basic social entrepreneurship methodologies from UoC Coaches. You will travel in groups, back to your roots to leverage and develop your skills to uplift your very community.

We will equip you with a toolkit that teaches you about grassroots entrepreneurship and problem solving – and together we’ll design a plan for how to drive social-economic inclusion.

Most promising interns will be given an opportunity to incubate their social-enterprise idea with UoC.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Supply Side (Production and Community Strategy)

1. On-boarding farmers and artisans in native towns, villages and urban slums of Bangalore and other Karnataka cities. (You chose your location across Karnataka).
2. Building a catalog of products, stories and brand labels.
3. Help drive socio-economic inclusion via training and workshops.
- Technology Training

- City trips to meet customers

Demand Side (Marketing and Sales)

3. Driving Marketing and Sales strategies to acquire customers for above products.
4. Building partnership with large and medium size market players, including corporate campuses, malls, farmers markets etc.
5. Digital Marketing and Public Relations
6. Drive mobile app adoption among customers
7. Village immersion trips to meet farmers and artisans.
